WHAT GETS MEASURED GETS DONE: Counting dispensers exclusively from Steiner Hygiene
Submitted by Larry Jackson on March 11, 2008 - 7:00am.
Frustrated by the Lack of Hand Hygiene
Management Tools?
Help is now available in the form of soap and sanitiser dispensers that count each time they are used. With counters managers can now set frequency standards, track performance and motivate employees. The Steiner dispensers have a delay mechanism that ensures that double counting does not occur.
For more information on best practices from Steiner Hygiene endorsed by the Handwashingforlife® Institute, Download PDF.
What Gets Measured Gets Done
With counting dispensers installed managers in food and health care facilities can establish frequency standards for hand hygiene, track performance against these standards and report progress to employees, management, customers and regulators. The ability to count provides managers with the tool to hold employees accountable for their hand hygiene behaviour.

Importance of Surface Cleaning: ATP Seminar
Submitted by Larry Jackson on December 30, 2007 - 8:00am.
If you missed the Surface Cleaning Seminar held in Pretoria in April plan to attend a second seminar on June 19th. Access your invitation in the Upcoming Events box in the right hand column of this web page. ATP swab testing of surfaces (including hands) provides immediate, visible and reliable feedback on the degree of organic matter contamination. Immediate feedback lets you respond to contamination problems and reduce the risk for pathogen growth and cross contamination. Handwashingforlife® advocates ATP testing as a useful aid in auditing, staff training and equipment selection.
Germstar: Touchless System Encourages Use
Submitted by Larry Jackson on February 10, 2008 - 9:40am.
Germstar is a non-allergenic hand sanitizer that kills 99.99% of the most common disease causing pathogens in one application.
The unique design of the Germstar dispenser encourages both employees and customers to sanitize their hands. Most importantly, the sealed bag system and the totally touch free dispenser prevents content and dispenser cross contamination.

Submitted by Larry Jackson on April 24, 2008 - 12:44pm.Handwashingforlife with the support of Leadership Forum Members Steiner Hygiene and Kimberly-Clark Professional recently spent a full day at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein conducting the first South African Handwashing Games. 300 professionals, management and staff participated in the games to determine what health care workers had the best hand washing technique. There were 19 perfect scores and a number of scores in the high 90s. Unfortunately, there were more bogies than birdies at this one day event. For more information on the Pelonomi vent open. Regardless of how much time and effort is invested in equipment, chemicals and training, improved employee performance is seldom sustained. “We keep telling employees to wash their hands but they just don’t listen” is the oft heard response of management. The Baker Magagzine recently talked with Erez Malamud of Anat Bakery about his company’s focus on food safety and his experiences with hand hygiene. Read the full Anat story.
