Health Care Hand Hygiene Competition

The Gauteng Department of Health is conducting the most ambitious HANDWASHING campaign ever undertaken in South Africa. The programme began in late October, 2007. Health care workers from 36 Hospitals and 20 Community Healthcare Centres are participating in Team Rally hand washing competitions to identify the best hand washers at their health care facility. Starting in April district and regional competitions will determine what teams and what facilities advance to the HAND HYGIENE CUP final in June, 2008. The HANDWASHING campaign was developed specifically for the Gauteng DOH by Handwashingforlife to include training for team coaches, players and event managers.
